When Belle Dumps Gaston Edit
The 1991 Film Edit
Gaston belives he is superior to all. So, he wants to marry the most beautiful girl in the world (or at least in the town).
And Gaston knows exactly who that girl is.
He goes to Belle's house and tells her that he wants to marry her. Belle refuses. Gaston walks away while a group of pretty girls who really like Gaston try to attract his attention.
When Gaston leaves, Belle ties a washcloth on her head and imagines what life would be like if she were Gaton's wife. Then she leaves the town and breaks into song.
The 2017 Film Edit
Gaston believes that he is the most handsome man in the town. He also believes that Belle is the most beautiful girl in town.
So, he goes to Belle's house and tells her that he wants to marry her. Belle refuses. Gaston walks away, conjuring the perfect plan to trick Belle into marrying him.
When Gaston leaves, Belle ties a washcloth on her head and imagines what life would be like if she were Gaston's wife. Then she goes into her house via the back door.
Change In Princess Personalities Edit
She does not like palace life and does not want to marry a prince. So she runs away.
She dreams of owning a restaurant. But, she works hard to make her dreams come true.
She does not like living in her tower under the strict chaperoning of Mother Gothel and dreams of seeing floating lanterns. So, she runs away.
She does not want to be a princess and loves horseback riding and archery.

They are all realistic, brave, hard-working, and rebellious princesses who are able to make their own decisions.
